Who am I- Jean Valjean!
Let me begin by saying how much I loved the 2012 version of Les Misérables. It was great, even though lots of people nit-picked it, I thoroughly enjoyed it. To bring in the theme of this post, i'd like to share a clip from Les Misérables with you.
So who am I? I'm a daughter, a sister, a student, a friend, you could even say llama lover. By reading some of my other posts you kind of have an idea of who I am right now, but I haven't always been the me of today and each day I become closer to what I want to be. Today, while I am who I am in this moment, I would like to share with you a little about me. Maybe while you read about me you will find somewhere you can relate or find strength in your differences.
I am the middle of three children, the best part of an Oreo. I have a beautiful older sister who has been married for a little over a year, now. I also have a younger brother who just started college this semester, i'm very proud of him. I have lived in Utah all my life, but I come from a diverse background. Growing up I wanted to be many things, however so long as I did something that made me happy, it didn't matter what I did.
I love my parents. I definitely don't show it often enough, but I'm grateful for them and the decisions they've made in their lives. Without my mom and dad I literally wouldn't be here and I would be a completely different person.
Today, I prepare to serve a mission. I try to be a little better everyday, sometimes I take a step backwards, but it happens and you have to keep going. I like drinking lemon tea. I clean when i'm stressed. I have smelly feet and a messy room. I am me right now, and I know I will become better. I'm slightly weird, mostly awkward, but i've made peace with my oddities and most days I embrace them.
One day, I will be a mother and a wife. This scares me, but I also know it will be best part of my life. I know I will love my kids so much (all 3, 5, or 8 of them) but I also want a career. I know by teaching my kids to love I can make an impact on our world, but there is also much to be done outside of my family. Everyone deserves to be loved and to have a friend and someday I will know how I can facilitate that love and friendship around me.
Everyday, no matter what I do, I am a Child of God. I am loved no matter where I go, as are each of you. As I look into the faces of the people I pass in this life, my testimony of who my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are is reaffirmed. We all have divine potential and goodness in us. I not only believe this, I know this.
So who am I?
I am Carolina, a daughter, a sister, a student, a friend, a future wife and mother, but most importantly I am a Child of God. We are all different and a little weird, but I know we can find happiness with our weirdness. You have your talents for a reason, so embrace them!
With love,
Carolina
